It turned out that he had a vision disorder called convergence insufficiency (vision therapy worked wonders), but I still wish I wouldn't have pushed the phonics so much when he was young. This year when he turned 10 it was like someone flicked a switch! So many people have said the same thing and that 10 saw the change. Maybe it's to make up for the teen years ahead that might not be so calm?
